A recent GEM study highlighted at a Cesco seminar reveals that Chile is losing ground in global lithium production. Despite an increase in reserves, countries like Australia have advanced more quickly. In the 1990s, Chile controlled 90% of global lithium reserves, but now holds less than 40%. The emergence of new competitors and significant discoveries in regions like Africa are also challenging Chile’s position in the global lithium market.
